Pounders Beach

Recently, we visited Laie Beach Park which is called Pounders Beach by the locals for the pounding waves against a rock cliff. A great place to boogyboard and bodysurf, it is also nice to just splash in the surf and build sandcastles. As with all beaches on the windward (eastern) side of the island, there is always a breeze, but on a relatively calm day you won't really notice. Keep in mind that the mountain range behind you means that the sun sets earlier on this side of the island than elsewhere.

The Princess and I splashing in the surf:

The Princesses wanted to see the inside of a coconut. Surprise! More shell inside the husk. We took the coconut home after removing the husk and cracked it open the next day. No milk, though.

There's even a short hike there.
